ACEEE Summer Study

8/12/2010: A paper on the FPL thermostat Pilot results co-authored by Joe Lopes and Pat Agnew of Florida Power & Light has been accepted by the ACEEE review panel for the 2010 ACEEE Summer Study Conference in Pacific Grove, CA this August 12-15, 2010.  Joe Lopes will attend and present the paper.

Lopes Teams With FPL Energy for Paper on Thermostat Pilot

After a successful pilot project in 2008-2009, Joseph Lopes and client FPL Energy have been approved by an ACEEE review committee to prepare a paper on the results of the central A/C thermostat pilot conducted in 2008-2009 that involved 400 participants.

The paper will summarize some ground-breaking results utilizing a two-way programmable communicating thermostat from Carrier, including conclusions on load and energy impacts for programming segments that have drawn the interest of government agencies. Results will be presented at the ACEEE Summer Study in Pacific Grove, CA in August 2010.

Lopes Consulting Services Partners with Marbek Resource Consultants

Lopes Consulting Services is currently partnering with Marbek Resource Consultants, a well-known Canadian energy and environmental consulting firm, conducting a conservation potential review study for Sask Power.  The team had previously worked on a similar project for BC Hydro in 2007-2008.

Lopes Consulting Services, Inc. Starts Up

After over 30 years in the energy industry, Joseph Lopes has started his own firm, Lopes Consulting Services, Inc. to serve utility and energy company clients.   He will continue working with his former firm, Applied Energy Group, Inc., as well, on selected projects.
